Bethlehem Builds to Serve

Volunteering is awesome; it’s even more awesome when you’re able to do it in the name of Hormel Foods 125^th Anniversary!

During their lunch hour on Friday, July 15, the Bethlehem (Pa.) sales office celebrated the company’s anniversary in true Hormel Foods spirit – by giving back to their community.

The team of 25 employees gave their time at Safe Harbor, located in Easton, Pa. Safe Harbor is dedicated to empowering and educating homeless men and women by helping them achieve a better way of life.

During lunch, the team travelled to Safe Harbor to build a much needed shed for outdoor equipment and gardened spruce up their outdoor area. The team’s positive attitudes were reflected in their work, as they ended up building four permeant gardens and a stone pathway. Way to get dirty and work hard for a great cause! In addition, the team served a delicious barbeque lunch for 80 residents of the program.

When the afternoon of volunteering was completed, the team reflected on their experiences.

“At the end of the day, I was really proud of our team for creating a beautiful environment for the residents of Safe Harbor and it was obvious that they were very grateful for our extra efforts,” stated one volunteer.

Another volunteer said, “I enjoyed having the entire office come together to celebrate our 125th and put our activity towards such a great cause in bettering our communities.”
