A SPAMtastic™ Downtown

Just over two years ago Hormel Foods announced its intention to move the SPAM® Museum to downtown Austin, Minn., by the company’s 125th Anniversary Celebration. The goal was met, and on a beautiful July morning, the company held a ribbon cutting ceremony to thank everyone involved in this community effort to revitalize downtown Austin.

During the SPAM® Museum Grand Opening, representatives of Hormel Foods, Vision 2020 and the Mayor of Austin all spoke to the number of people it took to build the new museum and the impact it has already made on the city of Austin.

Between the museum’s doors opening in April and the Grand Opening July 29, the museum had nearly 50,000 visitors and was featured in publications ranging from the Austin Daily Herald to the Chicago Tribune and NBC Nightly News.

The museum project team cut the ribbon during the ceremony and invited attendees into the museum.
